Jambo Rafiki, a nonprofit organization inspired by my time in Tanzania, requires branding materials targeted towards two audiences: families in the U.S. and school children across Africa. Translated from Swahili to “hello friend”, this NGO aims to give back while providing practical products.

I created hero and secondary palettes with an expansive color range to apply to patterns and branding materials. The logo uses altered Bodoni to make it tribally African. The logo is enclosed in a cup to resemble the ones children eat from and by selling school supplies, customers would associate Jambo Rafiki with nutrition and education.
School lunch boxes to be sold in stores across America.
Branded assets on the ground in Africa including cardboard boxes that would contain branded mugs.
Recyclable lunch bags.
I altered Bodoni to make it tribally African and created contrast with the sans-serif typeface Proxima Nova. By enclosing the logo in a cup, resembling the ones the children eat from, customers would create the association that Jambo Rafiki involves nutrition. Since Jambo Rafiki would sell school supplies, consumers would also associate the organization with education.
