At the beginning of the 20th century there were a few million African elephants, but today there are only around 450,000-700,000 making them an endangered species. Inspired by my ongoing conservation work in Africa, I decided to create a poster to raise awareness about the poaching crisis. Instead of a traditional poster that uses photography, I pursued the illustrative route. By constructing an elephant solely out of ivory trinkets, I wanted to emphasize just how many ivory products we are exposed to (sometimes without even realizing it).  These products include ivory statues, vases, carved horns, pipes, and hair clips as well as more common items such as chess pieces, decorate instruments, and tea pots.
